The very worst of news...

David Zopoula

On March 7, 2009, we lost our friend David Zopoula from this world, in a tragic car accident, in the south of Burkina Faso.

David was a star which shone and burned brightly in the universe. When he laughed and joked, he lit up the room. When he spoke, his experience and integrity lent an authority that engaged and exhorted the best from within those who partnered with him.

Loved by all who knew him, David was an inspirational pastor and an apostolic Christian leader, a warm, dedicated husband and father and one of the best men you could know. The work he authored and established in Burkina will now outlive him. He died pursuing the vocational work that he lived for: establishing discipleship communities of Christ and encouraging them to live lives radically devoted to Jesus and his commission.

To me he was amongst my finest and closest of friends and I loved him dearly. His life changed me and I will live the remainder of my life affected by the ongoing radiance of his life, which was a burning light.

You can read a full memorial message composed for friends and associates at the time of David's passing. You can also join a Facebook group for Friends of David Zopoula, which will be used to keep friends and associates up to date with the ongoing work within Burkina Faso.
