Mobile Academy of Mission

Resjsed Youth Organisation Mission Academy — Ouga, 2005

The ‘Eternal Purpose Mobile Academy of Mission’ is a modular teaching program focussed upon serving indigenous missional leadership — principally within developing nations of the global south.

The curriculum covers a biblical-theological introduction to Christian mission and to the historical and emergent world-mission movements, together with insight into the spirituality, theory and praxis of Christian faith, community and work within a global missionary paradigm.

Its development represents a response to the increased relevance of and need for partnership between mission-focussed personnel of the West—where material, academic and historical resources remain stubbornly gravitated—and those of the global south or two-thirds world—where the popular focus of world Christianity is increasingly located.

The Academy has, thus far, mainly been conducted overseas on a mobile, peripatetic basis — including within Kenya; USA and several times in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Theologically it reflects the authors’s cross-cultural links, essaying a convergence of both Western and non-Western worldviews, incorporating a biblical theology of covenant and community, an overview of the historical and emerging world Christian mission movement and insights into the theory and praxis of Christian faith within a global missionary paradigm.

The Mobile Academy of Mission is designed for oral communication, either using electronic 'PowerPoint' presentations for use in large seminars or chalkboard for small group presentations. It is also being developed for publication in book format.
