In dedication to a Friend

David

A True Friend and much-loved Pastor
Born 1958, Unexpectedly lost to eternity 8 March 2009

Loved by all who knew him, David was an inspirational pastor and an apostolic Christian leader; a warm, dedicated husband and father and one of the best men you could know—a star which shone and burned brightly in our universe. When he laughed and joked, he lit up the room. When he spoke, his experience, his Burkinabe grit and integrity, lent an authority that engaged and exhorted the best from within those who partnered with him.

David died pursuing the vocational work that he lived for: establishing discipleship communities of Christ and encouraging them to live lives radically devoted to Jesus and his commission. The work he authored and establised in Burkina will now outlive him.

One of the final conversations that I had with him was about the publication and distribution of my 'Academy of Mission' curriculum in a series of low-cost, easy-replication books, not only in Burkina Faso, but, David envisaged, over the borders into neighbouring nations of West Africa and even into East Africa where he travelled widely, just before his final bow.

It is my earnest hope that together with those who have stood forward into the gap left by David, we may fulfil that vision.
